Yellow Polyp, a rainbow Tenuis that really comes alive once those contrasting polyps develop. This easy-to-keep Acropora develops a wonderfully mixed base of green, teal and blue, with warmer golden and orange tones appearing through the corallites as the colony settles and matures.
The standout feature is, of course, the bright yellow polyps. Once properly established they create fantastic contrast against the cooler flesh, covering the branches with little flashes of yellow and giving the coral a completely different appearance when fully extended.
This one responds particularly well to stronger light once acclimated. In our experience, PAR around 350 and above helps encourage the brighter colour separation and those characteristic yellow polyps. Give it stable conditions and it develops into a beautifully textured, colourful Tenuis without being unnecessarily difficult to keep.
Teal, blue and green with warm rainbow highlights and bright yellow polyps — once Yellow Polyp gets settled and starts showing off, you understand exactly why we kept it.
