Viper, vivid red with a venomous streak of green running underneath. This striking Acropora develops intense crimson-to-hot-pink growth across the branches, contrasted by green and cooler blue undertones through the deeper tissue. Red polyps dominate the surface, with flashes of yellow adding another layer of detail when you get in close.
The growth form is particularly attractive, spreading outward into a curling, layered table with upright branchlets that become increasingly saturated with red as the colony matures. The mature colony is a serious block of colour, with the greener base remaining visible beneath the red upper growth and creating fantastic depth.
Viper has also proven extremely easy to keep for an Acropora, establishing readily and growing strongly once settled. Get it really happy and it has another trick waiting — the axial growth tips can turn a brilliant orange, adding yet another colour to the mix.
Red, green, blue and flashes of yellow, with orange tips when it’s firing — Viper has plenty of bite without being difficult to handle.
