Sub Zero is all about those incredible ice-blue tips — almost translucent, with a glow that looks like light is coming from inside the coral.
The body carries cool teal, blue and green tones, but it’s the growing tips that completely steal the show. They develop into an icy electric blue, with a soft translucent quality that makes them look almost illuminated under reef lighting.
Structurally, Sub Zero grows as a short, squat staghorn, with the same general growth formation as PC Rainbow, but the colour palette is almost the complete opposite. Where PC Rainbow leans warm, Sub Zero is all about cool tones, icy contrast and that frozen-blue glow.
As it settles and starts putting on new growth, those tips become even more pronounced, giving the whole colony a seriously striking look.
Compact, cool-toned and absolutely glowing — Sub Zero is the kind of Acropora that earns its name the second the blue tips start to develop.
