Banana Man, a rare yellow Granulosa-type Acropora with a name straight out of 1980s childhood. Named after the classic British cartoon superhero who transformed after eating a banana, the name seemed rather unavoidable once we saw the colour of this thing.

This unusual morph develops incredibly bright banana-yellow to lime-yellow flesh, with softer green undertones through the lower growth and contrasting darker polyps scattered across the branches. The chunky, smooth Granulosa-style structure makes the colour look even more intense, particularly once it starts developing multiple thick branches.

This one appreciates higher light once properly acclimated, which helps push that saturated yellow colour rather than allowing it to become overly green. Yellow Acropora are never exactly common, and combined with this growth form it makes Banana Man a seriously distinctive piece.

Bright banana yellow, flashes of lime and chunky Granulosa growth — give it enough light and, in true 80s fashion, Banana Man becomes a bit of a superhero.
